THE THINGS I LOVE THE MOST
Everyone must have the things they
love the most including me. I always value things especially gifts from my
beloved ones, for example, hair clips, make-up products, bracelets, and more. It
may be hard to choose gifts as we don’t know their favorite things but we can
ask them directly. One thing that I love the most is perfume. Perfume is a
mixture of fragrant essential oils or aroma compounds or what we called it
fragrances, fixatives, and solvents, usually in liquid form. People always find
it confusing to tell the differences between pure perfume, Eau de parfum, Eau
de toilette, and Eau de cologne. The differences are simply a matter of the
amount or concentration of the oils in the fragrance. The highest concentration
is in pure perfume, next would be Eau de Parfum then Eau de Toilette, and
finally Eau de Cologne. The higher the concentration the longer the fragrance
will last, and the less need to apply.
It is important to choose the right
perfume with safe ingredients as dangerous chemicals might harm for example benzaldehyde,
camphor, limonene, and more. Evidence in peer-reviewed journals shows that some
fragrances can cause asthmatic reactions in some individuals, especially those
with severe or atopic asthma. Research also shows that some of the chemicals
used in synthetic fragrances can negatively impact your nervous system,
hormones, and cortisol, leading to feelings of anxiety. There are brands that I
trusted as they’re tested by perfume chemists like Safi, Syahirah, Pucelle, Dior,
Yves Saint Laurent, Jo Malone London, and more.
Fragrance plays a huge role in how
you feel and the ability to elicit a range of emotions from feeling confident
happy, relaxed, and more. I’ll always apply some perfume before going out to
make sure I’ll appear more presentable and bring a small bottle of perfume in
my handbag to reapply. The fragrance of perfume will determine my mood
throughout the day, for example, floral fragrance will enhance my feminine side
and fresh fragrance will make me feel refreshed even I’m sweating a lot. I’m
depending on perfume like it’s my personality and I need them to survive the
day. Sometimes I would wear some comforting fragrance before sleep because it
helps me sleep better at night. Study shows the most impactful sleep scents are
those that help you to relax. That makes sense, given that a person’s nerves
may be heightened before bedtime. There are several other hacks to fall asleep
for example listening to white noise, pink noise, or brown noise can hash out the
little sonic disturbances that might otherwise keep us wide awake.
I believe that there are more
benefits from perfume that I haven’t discovered yet and hoping in the future I
would get the opportunity to learn more about perfume, and choose the right
fragrance from a professional perfumer.
